Job Description

The Human Factors Training Specialist will serve as an integral part of the Air Traffic Control Human Factors Team at Fort Hill Group. The Human Factors Training Specialist will participate in a variety of projects aimed at improving human performance in the National Airspace System (NAS). The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development, validation, and facilitation of human performance training materials to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The successful candidate must possess strong presentation and facilitation skills.

Potential activities that the Human Factors Training Specialist will be involved in include:

  • Developing human factors training material for operational, management, and executive personnel
  • Gathering and analyzing data to measure the effectiveness and impact of operational training materials
  • Leading working group sessions and focus groups with aviation subject matter experts
  • Developing and executing cognitive workload assessment test plans for air traffic controllers
  • Performing statistical analysis of human performance data

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, Engineering, Psychology, or related discipline
  • Experience developing and facilitating human factors training workshops
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Experience conducting human factors analyses in an operational environment, such as cognitive walkthroughs, task analysis, or human error analysis
  • Experience conducting data analysis and visualization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for presenting technical research results
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen able to successfully complete a government security investigation

Desired Attributes

  • Advanced degree in Human Factors, Engineering, Psychology, or related discipline
  • Background or training in education or learning theory
  • Expertise applying human factors methods within the aviation and/or air traffic control domain
  • History of working directly with the FAA and/or airline stakeholders
