Job Description

The Human Factors Safety Analyst will serve as an integral part of the Air Traffic Control Human Performance Assessment Team at Fort Hill Group. The Human Factors Safety Analyst will participate in a variety of projects aimed at improving human performance and safety in the National Airspace System (NAS). The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing human performance and safety problems, identifying potential solutions, and assisting in the implementation of recommendations in support of the client's human factors goals and objectives. The successful candidate will be expected to clearly present key research findings to stakeholders and contribute heavily to the development of research reports.

Potential activities that the Human Factors Safety Analyst will be involved in include:

  • Performing human factors analyses of planned NextGen improvements
  • Conducting subject matter expert opinion elicitation working groups
  • Leading research and planning sessions with flight deck, air traffic, and system maintenance stakeholders
  • Conducting literature reviews and data analysis to identify aspect impacting cognitive workload of air traffic controllers
  • Developing and conducting cognitive workload analyses of air traffic controllers
  • Collecting lab and field data on air traffic controller workload
  • Development of risk mitigation strategies targeted at identified causal factors
  • Performing statistical analysis of human performance data
  • Conducting proactive human performance assessment of proposed operational changes

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Engineering, Psychology, or related discipline
  • Experience conducting human performance analyses, such as cognitive walkthroughs, task analysis, human error analysis, etc.
  • Experience conducting data analysis and data visualization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to actively collaborate within a cross-functional team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for presenting technical research results
  • Candidate must be able to successfully complete a government security investigation

Desired Attributes

  • Advanced degree in Human Factors, Engineering, Psychology, or related discipline
  • Expertise applying human factors methods within the aviation and/or air traffic control domain
  • Experience applying advanced statistical methods to large human performance data sets
  • Experience conducting cogntive worlload assessments in industry
  • History of working directly with FAA organizations
